INSIGNIA
Friday, 7 October 2016
... and the boy died.
“Buy your pure water!”
He shouts.
Going up, then down the road.
“Hey! Give me one”
She called.
He runs to her,
“Thank you ma” he says.
“You get change?
I want two water”,
Another calls,
But from across.
He’s eager,
He looks right,
Then left, and right again
While he focuses ahead.
He dashed,
But not to sell,
To his untimely death.
The car never stopped.
Screams and shouts,
Sighs and grunts,
Heralded his passing
From here to beyond.
The ground trembled beneath his father
While the sky crumbled above his mother,
With a sibling loudly silent,
Their world shattered.
Mother wailed noisily
But father, he was deep in thought,
Of a priceless loss,
Not exactly of a child
But of a cause.
His mates were just returning from school
While he returns to his creator.
I weep for humanity,
He was barely ten you see,
And the boy died.

FOR THE LOVE OF PALMS
I REMEMBER
I remember vividly,
Those days
Of beautiful hurt
And painful pleasure,
Those moments
Of lustful hatred
And careless love.
I remember quitely,
when I was but a soul
In need
In want
And in love.
I remember life as it was
And love as it never was.
I remember sweetly,
The words
That soothes
And the deeds
That hurts.
I remember the neglect
The pride
The looks
And the yearns.
I remember knowingly,
The tears,
Of joy and sadness
And the smiles,
Of hurt and happiness.
I remember the fun,
The sweet cries
And sour laughter.
I remember gently,
The comings,
And the goings.
The staying,
And the leaving.
I remember fondly,
Letting go.
And I remember finding myself.
I remember then
Now, and I will forever.

PALMS
That strongly appeals to me
In a palm tree
The fronds,
The leaves,
The stem,
Or simply the way it sways

SWEET NONSENSE
Beneath the bones
Wildly and fast
Of fear and pride
Arrogance and deceit
Pretense and lies
As he prepares
His sweet nonsense
Lips moving
Eyes smiling
Teeth gnashing
Nose twitching
Hands clasping
